Thanks for your feedback.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6128ca.

I made no changes to any settings after the Windows 10 upgrade and have tried using my headphones while plugged in the same audio jack. The problem is similar: there is sound but the quality has been greatly reduced as if the music is muffled and distant.

Method 1 did not work and device manager indicates that all my sound devices are up to date (AMD High Definition Audio Device, CyberLink WebCam Virtual Driver and IDT Hight Definition Audio Codec).

Thank you for your help

I seem to have fixed the problem for now.

It was a driver problem but the new driver was somewhat hard to find.

Here's what I did:

1. Opened device manager

2. Selected IDT Hight Definition Audio Codec

3. Update driver

4. Browse my computer for driver software

5. Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

6. Instead of selecting from the two IDT Hight Definition Audio Codec versions with verified compatibility (dating both from 2011), I selected a device called High Definition Audio Device. I was prompted with a compatibility warning message but went ahead anyway.

Now the driver date is 7/9/2015 and my audio is back to normal.

HOWEVER is this a driver released for the Windows 10 update or am I making a mistake by changing to this driver?

Thank you for your help
